Structure of the Program

The TRUST / ARL Research Training program offers a three-year, structured program for young researchers in the fields of geography, environmental planning, landscape planning and architecture, spatial and urban planning, sociology, historical and political science, economics, law and related subjects.

The program is held in German and English. From the group of up to ten doctoral students, up to four are employed in the Academy’s Headquarters in Hannover. The other participants take part via the Research Centre TRUST. As a non-university research institution the ARL is not authorized to award doctorates, its doctoral students are therefore enrolled at the LUH and are supervised by professors from the Research Centre TRUST or the LUH.

During the preparation of their PhDs, the doctoral students benefit from an extensive course program and receive support with networking.
