Objectives and Fields of Action

Rural and densely populated areas are affected by digitalization processes in different ways. The aim of the working group is to transdisciplinarily identify current developments in digitalization within rural and densely populated areas of the LAG region, assess their potential impacts, and examine their implications for concrete planning requirements. This includes addressing both the significance and consequences of digitalization as well as the new challenges and responsibilities of the various actors involved.

The main fields of action focus on public services and quality of life, particularly in the areas of health and (continuing) education, mobility and logistics, administration and governance, tourism, digitalization in international and EU contexts, municipal development, digitalization in housing, the planning profession and spatial planning, as well as value chains and public service delivery. In addition, the working group discusses ethical principles of digitalization as well as legal aspects.
