Indo-German Knowledge Exchange on Regional Spatial Planning in Germany

Following a visit to the ARL Headquarters by Indian experts on 18 December 2025, during which there was a stimulating exchange of views on spatial planning and regional planning specifics in Germany and India, ARL President Axel Priebs was invited to give a presentation on regional planning in the Hanover region as part of the Indian Urban Knowledge Webinar Series.

Gujarat is one of the most urbanised states in , and is attempting to harmonise economic development and quality of life in the region.

In this context, the first webinar in the series focuses on the Indo-German exchange of expertise, presenting the experiences of regional planning in Germany to an Indian audience of experts. This online event is intended for senior urban and spatial planning officials, urban planning experts, and municipal officials from the state of Gujarat in India.

At the request of the Indian experts, Axel Priebs' presentation on regional planning in the Hanover area focused on mobility, transport and central social infrastructure.

The workshop took place on 5 January 2026, running from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Indian time (12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Central European time).
