Call for Proposals: New topics for working groups and transfer formats within the framework of the ARL missions
Which current spatial issues should be addressed in an interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary manner? Which topics deserve in-depth scientific examination – with a clear reference to practice and social impact? The ARL is calling for proposals for new working groups and transfer formats within the framework of its ongoing missions and current research concept. The deadline is 25 March 2026.
Thematic focus
The call for proposals is open to all topics; proposals are not limited to specific disciplines or fields of practice. However, a clear reference to at least one ongoing mission or to the current research concept of the ARL is required.
We are looking for projects that:
- systematically combine scientific and political-planning perspectives,
- are interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary in nature,
- concretely implement the co-production of knowledge between research and practice,
- pursue a recognisable transfer and impact claim,
- contribute to the provision of action-relevant knowledge for sustainable spatial development.
Possible formats
Proposals may include various working and transfer formats, for example:
- international or national working groups
- ad hoc working groups (maximum duration of one year for current issues)
- transfer workshops for specific target groups
- dialogue-based or interactive event series
- digital formats
- Audio or video formats
- Specific publication formats
It is crucial that the chosen format promises the greatest added value in terms of the issue at hand, the target groups and the social impact.
Applications for ad hoc working groups will be reviewed separately for urgency and may be assessed in an abbreviated procedure.
