ARL Lunch Talk #13: How Can We Demonstrate the Impact of Transdisciplinary Research?
Transdisciplinary research, meaning the collaboration between science and practice, is in high demand right now. When researchers and practitioners come together to tackle problems that affect both groups, the chances of finding effective solutions increase — right?
The ARL specializes in transdisciplinary collaboration on spatial planning and related topics. Since summer 2024, Maximilian Räthel, Lena Fritzsche, and Peter Kohlstedt have been exploring how exactly transdisciplinary collaboration impacts society and policy, and how these impacts can be made visible. They have developed a concept that allows the societal and political effects of ARL research to be captured, analyzed, and presented.
In this Lunch Talk, they will present the concept and focus specifically on the following questions:
- What are the challenges in capturing and presenting impact?
- What can be done from the start to increase the impact (or potential impact) of research results?
- How exactly can impacts be captured, analyzed, and communicated?
- Are there characteristic pathways and logics of impact?
On the occasion of the November of Science, we invite all interested parties, science enthusiasts, and methods nerds to join us in exploring the actual impact of our transdisciplinary work on society and policy — and how to trace these impacts in the first place.
Our Speakers:
- Dr. Maximilian Räthel, Head of the Science Management Unit, ARL Headquarters
- Lena Fritzsche M. A., Research Associate
- Peter Kohlstedt B. Sc., Technical Staff
