Urban River Restoration
Are you interested in climate resilience, urban ecology, or sustainable urban planning? Would you like to gain practical international experience while earning 5 ECTS credits?
We are pleased to invite you to the Multidisciplinary & International Summer School on Urban River Restoration 2026, organized by UJEP - Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (Czech Republic), in cooperation with Dresden University of Technology (TUD), Leibniz Institute of Ecological and Regional Development (IOER), Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (all Germany), Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), Poznań University of Life Sciences (Poland)
Why Urban Rivers?
Restoring urban rivers is crucial for cooling our cities, boosting biodiversity, and improving quality of life. However, space constraints and complex ownership make implementation a challenge. This summer school brings together students from various countries and disciplines to collaboratively design nature-based solutions that tackle these real-world obstacles.
What will you do?
- Field Visits: Explore real sites in Ústí nad Labem to understand the local context.
- Interdisciplinary Teams: Work with peers from different backgrounds to design multi-functional riverside measures.
- Expert Insight: Learn from specialists from UJEP, TU Dresden, IOER, STU Bratislava, and other top institutions.
- Holistic Assessment: Evaluate your designs from ecological, social, and spatial perspectives.
