We are currently establishing the international working group “Resilient Metropolitan Regions – Spatial Planning and Management for Urban Transformation” and looking for participants! The call ends by December 15th, 2023.

The central objective of the working group is to make progress on questions of increasing resilience in spatial development using the example of selected metropolitan regions in German-speaking countries as well as Southwestern Europe. The group will contribute to an expansion of both spatial and planning theory as well as practical planning knowledge and discourse.

Der ARL-Kongress 2024 findet vom 18.-19. April 2024 in Lübeck statt. Ab jetzt können Sie Beiträge zum Thema „Große Infrastrukturprojekte: Planung zwischen Beschleunigung und Protest“ einreichen!

Große Infrastrukturen von (über-)regionaler Bedeutung sind kostenintensive und komplexe Vorhaben. Es sind weitreichenden Zukunftsinvestitionen, an deren Realisierung und Leistungsfähigkeit oft hohen Erwartungen geknüpft sind. Zeitgleich sind diese Projekte planerisch und baulich-technisch, aber auch umwelt- und gesellschaftspolitisch sehr herausfordernd und bergen ein hohes Konfliktpotenzial, wie u. a. Stuttgart 21 verdeutlicht hat.

Vom 14.-16. Juni 2023 findet in Cottbus der 1. Bundeskongress "Tag der Regionen. Die Welt im Wandel –  So gelingt die Transformation in der Region" statt. Das Forum Nachwuchs der ARL lädt am 15. Juni zu einer Podiumsdiskussion ein und sucht für das Podium noch junge Nachwuchskräfte aus Planungspraxis und Planungsforschung.

Der ARL-Kongress 2023 "Zukunftsfähig mobil! Wie lässt sich eine sozial gerechte und ökologisch verantwortliche Mobilität planen?" findet am 22. und 23. Juni 2023 in Leipzig im Kubus des UFZ statt.

Der ARL-Kongress 2023 rückt eine multiperspektivische Sicht auf die Verknüpfungen von Mobilität und Erreichbarkeit mit vielfältigen Dimensionen sozialer Teilhabe in den Mittelpunkt des fachlichen Austauschs zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis. Auch internationale Perspektiven und Erfahrungen, etwa aus anderen europäischen Ländern, werden beleuchtet.

Der ARL-Kongress bietet Raum für einen disziplinübergreifenden Diskurs verschiedener wissenschaftlicher Fachrichtungen im direkten und fachkundigen Austausch mit Fachleuten aus der Praxis in den Bereichen Planung, Wirtschaft, Umwelt sowie Politik und Verwaltung. Stipendium beim raumwissenschaftlichen Leibniz R-Forschungsnetzwerk für (Wissenschafts-) Journalist:innen

Das Leibniz R Journalist in Residence Fellowship bietet (Wissenschafts-)Journalist:innen mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Fragen der städtischen, ländlichen und regionalen Entwicklung einen Gastaufenthalt von bis zu zwei Monaten an einer Einrichtung des Forschungsnetzwerks Leibniz R – Räumliches Wissen für Gesellschaft und Umwelt.

Bei einem Aufenthalt von bis zu acht Wochen gibt Leibniz R Journalist:innen die Möglichkeit, zu einem selbstgewählten Projekt mit raumwissenschaftlichem Bezug zu recherchieren. Die Vergütung beträgt 4.000 € im Monat und Sachkosten werden bis zu einer Höhe von insgesamt 2.000 € erstattet.

Call for authors: Booklet on Alberto Magnaghi

Call for Young Academic (YA) Authors to work in collaboration with distinguished Prof. Alberto Magnaghi and another YA author reflecting on his work in planning theory and practices.

This booklet project presents conversations with influential planners in theory to reflect on the path of their careers and discuss how they inspired and addressed the development of planning theory. It aims to provide an introduction to their theories and ideas.

The suitable candidates should be interested in territorial planning, sustainable development, participation and commons. We welcome candidates interested in being lead authors and co-authors (please write us your preference). Ideally the work will start in October 2022. Prof Alberto Magnaghi and the editorial board of Conversations in Planning YABooklet will select the candidate.

Das Wettbewerbsthema lautet: Künftig alles SMART? Herausforderungen der Digitalisierung für die Raumentwicklung

Die Digitalisierung hat weitreichende, jedoch noch nicht gänzlich abzusehende Auswirkungen auf Räume und deren gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Funktionen und Nutzungen. Für den FRU-Förderpreis 2022 ist dabei der Referenzrahmen eine nachhaltige, sozial inklusive und räumlich nachhaltige Entwicklung, auch beim (inter)nationalen Vergleich.

Call for Contributions to a Seminar of the International Working Group Small Towns and Metropolitan Cores

In 2020, the ARL set up an international working group on the following theme: Small towns and metropolitan cores: towards cooperation? A European perspective. This working group is composed of a dozen European academics and experts who address the topic and its sub-aspects both from inter- and transdisciplinary perspectives. The members of the working group work together for three years. They collaborate online and meet physically for two workshops a year at various locations across Europe. The group may also be complemented by invited experts relevant to the topics of research.

The committee is pleased to announce the upcoming IATUR conference call for papers for the 44th annual conference of the International Association for Time Use Research (IATUR) to be held in Montréal, Québec, Canada, August 16-19, 2022.

The event will take place in the Cœur des Sciences (Heart of Science) campus of the University of Québec in Montréal, right next to the vibrant Quartier des spectacles and downtown Montréal.
